We are currently hiring Mid-Level Strategy Development Analyst on the BGS Strategy team to set strategic priorities, recommend major business decisions, evaluate investment options, and directly impact the trajectory of a multi-billion dollar global enterprise.

The Opportunity

BGS Strategy team members develop independent assessments and lead cross-functional project teams focused on identifying the most important growth opportunities, as well as the required capability, capacity and competitiveness to ensure success in the marketplace. The successful candidate will understand the Enterprise and BGS strategic objectives, and lead across organizational boundaries to ensure strategic alignment and integration across Boeing. The ability to collaborate as part of a team as well as perform independently, to generate key strategic analysis, while applying critical thinking across complex problems and to present and defend insights from the analysis to senior leaders within the business is critical to the success of the position.

The BGS Strategy team has three major functions: Market Analysis, Intelligence & Portfolio Planning; Strategic Analysis and Integration; and Market Development. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn more about the scope and opening specifics during the interview.

The Market Analysis, Intelligence & Portfolio Planning team is responsible for leading the forecasting and competitive insights as well as assessing key market drivers and influences of current aviation services markets as well as adjacent markets for growth. The successful candidate will conduct research leading to new business opportunities and anticipate potential risks related to BGS markets and help to set the agenda for strategy development and portfolio planning across the enterprise. They will engage with internal and external customers to understand market needs, customer concerns and industry trends. The successful candidate will ensure company awareness of and familiarity with industry trends, provides information regarding potential impact of industry, legislative or regulatory changes, and communicates findings to leadership in innovative ways.

The Strategic Analysis and Integration team is responsible for providing and synthesizing BGS business, market, competitive, and financial information to develop and evaluate strategic alternatives (e.g. business model, organic investments, competitiveness) across the enterprise. The team works closely with the BGS businesses to develop strategic growth plans and partners with other functions to ensure strategies and required investments are reflected in the business plan.

The Market Development & Functional Strategy team is responsible for leading strategy development and execution for BGS market-facing functions including Supply Chain; Digital Solutions; Training; and Global Technical Operations & Engineering. The Market Development & Functional Strategy team also leads strategy development and execution of acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships. The successful candidate will own M&A opportunities and strategic initiatives end-to-end developing insightful analyses and communicating clearly and compellingly. Working closely with the BGS Leadership Team, the successful candidate will synthesize opportunities, make thoughtful recommendations, gain alignment and execute on the most promising opportunities.

  • Must be an analytical thinker with strong attention to detail

  • Clear, effective and organized written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to defend strategic assumptions and analysis through critical reviews and debate

  • Experience presenting oral briefings of analytic findings to senior executive audiences

  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, including the ability to create executive quality strategy presentations

  • Understands and uses a hypothesis driven approach to strategy development

  • Demonstrated ability to draw business-relevant insights that inform leadership decision-making

  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-level strategic approaches, develop deliverables and execute processes

  • Develop solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with enterprise strategic objectives, which leverage insights from quantitative and qualitative data to explain implications on business environment and strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate and engage at all levels of the organization, including direct support of senior leaders

  • Project leadership and management experience

  • Knowledge of the commercial, business, and general aviation markets; as well as Defense industries

A preferred candidate will have had experience working with or in organization structures to drive value and outcomes through creative solutions with minimal oversight and in ambiguous environments. Technical competencies include a thorough understanding or ability to quickly understand aerospace and technology-related value chains, end use cases, as well as supporting technologies and stakeholders in the ecosystem. Qualified candidate should excel in both strategic thinking and be proficient in project execution, as responsibilities could range from creating business concepts to driving solution development.

Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

  • 1+ years of experience performing strategy related work (e.g. market or competitive research and analysis, strategy development, facilitating strategic decisions)

  • Experience in Aerospace & Defense aftermarket services

  • Ability to travel to support business and team requirements (approximately 10%-25%)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • An expert in advanced excel functions and experience in statistical software, PowerBI and Tableau

  • Experience in developing long-term strategies

  • In addition to technical degrees, educational background in Business (Finance, International, Marketing, and Operations Management), Economics, and/or Political Science considered desirable

  • MBA or advanced business/finance, strategy, or international degrees preferred

  • Previous consulting experience

  • Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry

  • Experience being a strategic business partner supporting a leadership team

  • Experience performing strategy work (e.g. market or competitive research and analysis, strategy development, and facilitating strategic decisions)

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience, 9 years’ related work experience, etc.).
