Job Description:
The Strategic Marketing Director is responsible to lead and develop an exclusive team of Marketing Managers, Business Managers and Product Managers/Specialists that will achieve Cardiac Therapies & Diagnostics revenue and profitability targets. You will ensure marketing plans are specific and adapted to the Canadian Market. Work with the marketing team to develop commercial product strategies inclusive of product messaging, competitive positioning and pricing plans. Identify key business opportunities and barriers and develop strategies to overcome barriers and tactics to realize results. Capacity to segment the market according to product portfolio, growth opportunity, market development and new business models. Create market development strategies in conjunction with growth therapy areas. Facilitate individual career development of direct reports including support staff. Develop and launch leadership initiatives to facilitate market share and overall market growth in Cardiac Therapy and Diagnostic business areas. Provide strategic direction and developmental opportunities to the Canadian Cardiac Therapies and Diagnostics Marketing Team including an effective succession plan.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop Annual and Quarterly Marketing Plans to meet corporate objectives and financial targets that includes clear expectations to the regions as well as metrics to measure success.
- Recruit, develop and retain superior marketing talent and support staff. Maintain talent excellence over the competition.
- Develop a pricing and product portfolio national strategy.
- Establish strong relationship, trust and credibility with the Marketing team from the Operating Units.
- Responsibilities may also include: coordinating trade show activities, website development, developing future e-commerce strategies, and tracking of marketing campaigns to evaluate results and provide recommendations for future marketing promotions.
- Experience working with KOLs and leveraging societies to increase therapy adoption and penetration for Medtronic products.
- Facilitates and coordinates marketing activities with geographic areas to increase teamwork and build partnerships.
- Facilitate relationships and partner with other Healthcare stakeholders and payers and put Medtronic in a position to expand its services across the care continuum, implementing integrated care models to provide care at the right place at the right time, thus improving outcomes and access for patients, as well as optimizing the end-to-end costs.
- Identifies unmet customer requirements and new business opportunities and provides vision and focus to move products from idea to market place.
- Strengthen customer-focused partnerships through Medtronic exclusive initiatives including the development of new business models.
- Establish Marketing plans that will include inside sales activities as well as a service franchise that will generate revenues.
- Liaise with HQ and Operating Units and partner in product development and marketing initiatives. Develop alignment tools for the Canadian team to better leverage global resources.
- Effectively manage annual budgets.
- Influence key stakeholders by developing well-articulated situation analysis and business case for change.
- Capture learning and best-practices and continuously enrich Medtronic service offering and toolbox.
- Lead strategically required market research programs to better understand customer requirements.
- Partner with Medtronic Sales organization to identify opportunities for collaboration with the hospitals along the Healthcare Value Chain.
- Occupy a leadership role in facilitating alignment of multi-functional areas such as education, finance, government affairs and public relations.
- Assist in the development of strategies and plans for key RFPs/tenders including pre-tender plans.
- Track record of turning ideas into results.
- Work closely with our support functions (Regulatory, Contracts and Pricing, Supply Chain, Order Management) to advance the needs of the CVG business in these functional areas.
- Works individually or with a team in recommending action, scheduling and planning projects, estimating cost and managing projects to completion.
- Partner with strategic hospital accounts to drive complex transformational change, implement innovative growth strategies, streamline patient-focused care pathways and optimize operations.
- Directs the development of company market requirements for a specific product(s) or product line(s).
- Leads and coordinates product planning, product launches, product management, market development and market research activities.
- Establish a road-map and develop actionable plans for immediate improvement and costs savings.
- Interacts directly with product managers to identify new marketing opportunities.
- Identify, frame and prioritize initiatives to capture value.
- Maintain high-level market intelligence within the health care arena and competitive landscape. Proactively act as an agent for change to adapt to external and internal change factors.

- Annual budget development and management to AOP targets.
- Strong strategic selling and negotiating skills.
- Advanced skill set in annual strategic planning process and marketing plan development.
- Exceptional team building, team leading and team player skills.
