Job Description:
This role owns the holistic digital brand experience and is accountable for channel sales performance. The priority of digital is firstly as a shopping experience for our members; the secondary and tertiary priorities are as a retail shopping research tool for our members; and as a service solution for our members including warranty input forms, contact via Service Center, store hours and sustainability reporting. Digital experience is a critical part of the MEC brand experience, and it must be aligned with brand strategy. Brand creative is a layer that should be considered at every touchpoint.
Job Responsibilities:
- Own the business plan for e-commerce inventory strategy
- Work closely with Supply Chain on ensuring satisfactory service levels across all channels balancing transaction costs
- Work closely with the merchant teams to plan and execute site merchandising strategies to include selection, pricing, promotion, product display, product information, on-site search and inventory
- Collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising and Retail Operations to ensure that the marketing and promotional calendar is at all times coordinated to create a tight Omni-channel shopping experience
- Collaborate with and regularly communicate to the C-team to ensure the ongoing e-Commerce strategy aligns and continues to support the overall business growth plan
- Build a yearly, monthly and weekly budget that looks at traffic, conversion, AOV, industry trends, member buying behaviour and ensure accurate reforecasting throughout the fiscal year
- Develop and support implementation of all e-commerce strategies for the company, including but not limited to the development of content, SEO on-page optimization, usability, testing, and analytics
- Work in coordination with the inventory planning team to ensure adequate availability for web and store allotments as well as a clear liquidation strategy for digital
- Own three-year digital product roadmap in coordination with all cross-functional partners
- Work with Finance team on building out the P&L model for Ecommerce to hit EBIT targets aligned with the overall strategic financial plan of the company
- Responsible for the overall user experience of mec.ca, including site navigation, checkout funnel and promotional campaigns.
- Responsible for top-line sales and bottom-line profitability for all digital transactions
- Work closely with IT technical lead roles on the implementation of the digital roadmap with responsibility for final approval
- Provide mentorship and leadership to the digital team to drive both individual and team success

- Proven leadership and team management skills derived from having direct responsibility for building and managing a cohesive, high-performing team
- Must possess the ability to manage teams to defined KPIs
- 15+ years of e-Commerce and digital experience and conversion optimization
- Customer care/call center leadership experience is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, lead multiple projects, prioritize, and manage a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
- Extensive experience in the digital space including but not limited to strategy, e-commerce and website SEO optimization, conversion of page views to dollars, and efficient content delivery
- Ability to develop and execute multiple priorities and approaches to meet objectives
- A passionate business driver/ A+ Operator
- Must have the ability to translate brand vision to the online channel and execute strategies that lead the company consistently towards that vision
- An entrepreneurial mindset and a roll-up-the-sleeves work ethic – must be comfortable with ambiguity and rapid rates of change
- Strong user understanding and expertise in Web content, usability, architecture, development, marketing, and design
