Job Description:
MEC is recruiting for a Senior Financial Analyst to report directly into the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). This person will be responsible for financial planning and forecasting, analyzing performance, communicating results, driving process improvement and providing financial decision support to the business. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with department leaders and play an integral role in providing financial analysis to drive business results.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, ensuring process changes are appropriately implemented, documented and communicated
- Understand the big picture outlook, risks & opportunities in order to provide strategic insights & financial analysis that support key business decisions
- Actively participate in the annual budgeting process and monthly forecast process, including coordination with various stakeholders across the organization
- Provide support in various related activities and projects.
- Be a trusted business partner
- Undertake budget/ forecast consolidation, analysis and the preparation of management reports and presentations
- Analyze monthly, quarterly and yearly results against prior year and budget/reforecast, and provide deep insights by understanding, analyzing and explaining variances
- Prepare various types of financial analyses using key performance indicators and be responsible for quantifying the financial impact of business initiatives and recommending viable options
- Develop and manage analytical tools and processes to improve the quality and transparency of financial results and forecasts and to facilitate ad hoc reporting
Job Requirements:
Qualification & Experience:
- Senior level with 3+ years relevant work experience; audit/ accounting experience from a big 4 accounting firm or in a similar FP&A role preferred
- Self-motivated, deadline orientated with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, work with others and contribute to a team environment
- Post-secondary education; degree in Business, Finance or Economics is required
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with strong modelling experience
- CPA or working towards a CPA/CFA designation
