Job Description:
In this role you will have in depth knowledge of Signalling and Train Control Systems, Automatic Train Control (ATC), train systems and the interfaces to the ATC, train dynamics and system integration test facilities. You will be the expert in assisting with fault investigation and root cause diagnosis as well as guiding the test facility architecture, design of new functionality and any data preparation and test analysis tools required to support, operate, and provide training on the System Test Rigs.
The jobholder will be expected to work and communicate effectively with fellow regional Siemens employees in the R&D department and the Project Delivery Teams as well as nationally and internationally and with the client when required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and inspection of design submissions from external suppliers
- Investigation and resolution of system or product level technical issues in hardware development, software development and system integration, cooperatively with safety engineering, verification, and validation functions
- Test rig data production and development of tools to automate production of test rig data
- Provide support to the production of system application manuals
- Author sub-system and software design specifications
- System design specification
- Configuration management and continuous improvement of test rigs in support of system integration
- Author interface specifications
- Customer requirements capture and analysis
Job Requirements:
Qualification & Experience:
- Familiarity with hardware and software lifecycles, associated tools, techniques and methodologies
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering, scientific or numerate discipline (essential)
- Experience of working to industry quality and applicable standards (essential)
- In depth knowledge of a metro signalling system such as Siemens CBTC and European Train Control System (essential)
- Experience in the development of Signalling Systems, Automatic Train Protection products, or other large programmable electronic systems
- Familiarity with UK signalling principals
- Excellent numerate skills (essential)
- Motivated, dependable, and self-reliant (essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (essential)
- Thorough understanding of systems engineering and configuration management processes and related tools (essential)
- Knowledge of having applied systems engineering practices in one or more mission critical, software intensive application domains (essential)
