Job Description:
Georgia-Pacific is searching for a Lumber Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at our Bay Springs, MS facility. This position is responsible to lead the efforts of a craftsman team of ~15 employees to safely and effectively complete maintenance work on mill equipment, producing equipment uptime. The successful candidate will have a long-term continuous improvement focus that values establishing systemic processes that are system versus people dependent and create sustainable value.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a high sense of urgency and the discipline required to support a 24-hour, 7-day high volume manufacturing operation
- Embrace and cultivate the Market Based Management (MBM) culture by utilizing the MBM framework, guiding principles, and other mental models in everyday decision making
- Work with procurement organization and outside vendors to supply parts and services to support plant maintenance efforts
- Participate in leading a safe work culture through example and planning to safely complete work
- Oversees the completion of PM and corrective work orders, supervising and leading the maintenance craft team to accomplish work safely and efficiently
- Act as a facilitator between the operations personnel and maintenance leaders to maximize the efficiency and value of maintenance activities in a way that best utilizes skilled craft workers, material resources and asset availability
- Understand and lead the maintenance scheduling and materials coordinating functions, including supervising direct reports performing these roles
- Communicate with and direct contractors on maintenance shutdown days and on as needed basis
- Contribute to improvement in the value drivers of the Operations Excellence model, specifically maintenance reliability and cost
Job Requirements:
- Experience in a wood products manufacturing environment
- Experience working in MOE and MP2
- Experience reading mechanical and structural drawings
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- 5+ years of work experience as a maintenance supervisor within a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
- 3+ years of work experience as a maintenance supervisor within a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
- Experience using Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Associates Degree or higher in engineering or maintenance
