THE POST
Aldar Academies are currently seeking an inspirational school leader to be our new Head of Primary (Primary School Principal) at Al Mamoura Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing next Academic Year 2021-2022.
Al Mamoura Academy is a mixed gender primary school and a girl’s only secondary school located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. Al Mamoura Academy is a successful school and our vision is clear as we strive to create “An innovative learning community, where we nurture our learners through Collaboration, Leadership and Creativity”. This vision is supported by the Al Mamoura Learner and Teacher DNA which is at the heart of the school community.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family of schools and to help shape the future of Abu Dhabi’s leading school group. The post holder will provide strategic direction and leadership of the newly formed Middle and Senior sections of the school.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Academy Ethos
- To fully support, advocate and promote the Academy’s vision, values and USP’s;
- Ensure that Al Mamoura and Aldar Education is always presented positively within and beyond the academy;
- Actively promote and implement the Al Mamoura Teacher & Learner DNA
- Participate in the Academy’s policy of appraisal and demonstrate a commitment to your own professional development;
- Support the Academy in achieving targets relating to Academic and Pastoral aspects of the school and striving for above expected standards in all areas;
- Rigorously adhere to the Academy’s safeguarding procedures;
- To carry out any duties as reasonably directed by the Principal/CEO.
Leadership and Management
- To be an active member of the school’s Executive Leadership Team and other staff teams as appropriate;
- Demonstrate knowledge, experience and a strong commitment to through school working;
- To lead the Lower School with a working knowledge of both Primary and Secondary pedagogy and practice;
- To work closely with the Middle & Senior School Principal to develop the Middle School model;
- Demonstrate knowledge of a range of international curriculums including British, IB and US education systems;
- Lead and develop the schools Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) committees
- Contribute to the development of policy and planning for the Academy and to monitor the implementation of relevant policies;
- Promote high expectations for all students’ achievement and progress;
- Develop and present an accurate and coherent account of the Academy’s performance to a range of audiences including governors and parents;
- Assist the Principal/CEO in shaping the direction of the academy and setting high expectations at all times;
- Promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective working relations;
- Recruit and select high caliber teaching and support staff;
- To liaise with senior colleagues at Aldar Education to support the strategic development of the Academy;
- Effectively lead the Lower School through external review and inspection processes;
- To undertake the professional duties of the Principal/CEO, as required by the Principal/CEO, in the event of his/her absence from the school;
Teaching and Learning
- To promote excellence, equality and high expectations for all staff and students through the Al Mamoura Academy Teacher and Learner DNA;
- Work with the Principal/CEO to improve the quality of teaching and learning and pupil’s achievement by setting high expectations and monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of learning outcomes;
- Provide regular feedback for colleagues in a way that recognizes good practice and supports their progress against professional and performance management objectives resulting in a tangible impact on students learning;
- Develop whole staff and individuals to enhance performance;
- Oversee the planning and delivery of staff meetings;
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in the curriculum and disseminate effectively to other members of staff;
- Plan, delegate and evaluate work carried out by team(s) and individuals;
- To oversee the Monitoring, Evaluation and Review of the Lower school and ensure this has impact;
- Create, maintain and enhance effective relationships.
Admissions and Marketing
- Contribute to the marketing of the school to the local and wider community in an international context;
- Seek opportunities to showcase the skills of the students both within the school and to a wider school audience;
- To work closely with Al Mamoura Academy’s and Aldar Education HQ Admissions and marketing teams to develop strategic marketing plans and to actively promote and grow the school’s enrolment numbers within all year groups of responsibility;
- To actively encourage and engage the Lower School in the school’s social media channels;
- To present at workshops and events to actively promote the Academy.
School Operations and Resource Management
- To appropriately manage any relevant budgets allocated to the Primary Principal;
- To ensure that the Lower School meets statutory requirements and responsibilities with regards to Health and Safety in conjunction with the Operations and Services Manager (OSM);
- To work in conjunction with the OSM to ensure that all Educational Resources for the Lower School are procured in a timely and efficient manner;
Strengthening Community
- Work with the Principal/CEO to engage with the internal and external school community;
- Work with the Principal/CEO to collaborate with Aldar Academies and Aldar Education in order to share expertise and bring positive benefits to their own and other schools;
- Work with the Principal/CEO to work collaboratively at both strategic and operational
levels with parents and across multiple agencies for the well-being of all children.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor Degree with PGCE is essential
- Evidence of active participation in CPD
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years’ teaching experience and 3 years educational Leadership experience
- Experience of working in a large primary school
- International experience desirable
- Previous experience in Leading a high performing team
- Experience of leading a school in a hybrid-learning environment.

- The successful candidate must be innovative and can inspire high levels of academic achievement
- Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of Primary and Secondary pedagogy and the English National Curriculum
- An excellent understanding of how to integrate technology into the classroom to enhance and extend teaching
- An effective communicator to a range of audiences
- A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
- Respect for all members of a school community
- A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
