Position Summary
Marine Engineering Faculty is responsible for the ownership and overall successful delivery of the Marine
Engineering Programs, including curriculum, assessment, and student progression. The faculty supervises
cadets in the program to ensure that students achieve required learning outcomes of the courses taught by
him/her. Working in conjunction with training officers in the sponsoring shipping companies, the incumbent
manages student success issues and ensures the delivery of courses.
Requirements
- Attainment of a Certificate of Competency (CoC) at a Class 1 Marine Engineer, Chief Engineering level or equivalent is essential
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline is required, with a PhD’s Degree seen as desirable
- A minimum of 3 years of industrial and teaching work experience,
- Previous experience in a teaching/training role is preferred
- Current knowledge of marine industry practices, trends and issues
- A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning
environment and teaching methodology
- Superior interpersonal skills as demonstrated by the ability to form professional relationships at all
levels within the organization and with appropriate external stakeholders
- Highly developed organizational, communication and presentation skills
- Strong management or leadership skills as exhibited by experience in effectively leading a team and/or
chairing committees
- Experience developing course curriculum and assessment tools is an asset
- Overseas work experience within a multi-cultural environment would be advantageous
