Let’s do this. In this vital role you will have primary responsibility for regional sales and contracting activities and results for an exciting respiratory biologic launch brand. You will build a regional sales team from the ground up and lead a team through District Sales Managers (DMs). You will be responsible for building elements of the launch strategy and plan, including sales operations infrastructure, sales force structure and alignment, development of the brand launch strategy and creation of the contracting strategy. You will also be responsible for achieving/exceeding sales goals by setting the strategic vision for the region and effectively coaching, motivating, hiring and retaining the right people and holding them accountable for delivering results. In addition, you will recruit and lead a team of Key Account Managers (KAMs), who will be responsible for contracting execution with key accounts. Job Responsibilities:
- Setting and maintaining high standards and accountability for results for regional staff
- Monitoring business performance, including key account contract performance, on a regular basis; engage in quarterly business reviews
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key customers in person and virtually.
- Travel to locations such as doctor’s offices, clinics and hospitals is required.
- Effectively leveraging and partnering with Amgen’s internal and external resources to help remove barriers impacting team’s success
- Regularly interface with collaboration partners at the national, regional and district levels; consistently demonstrate a ‘one team’ collaborative approach
- Recruiting and building a launch sales team, starting with DMs and KAMs, and subsequently overseeing the build of the representative sales team in your region
- Supporting pricing team in development and execution of contracts, and coaching KAM team in execution of contracts with key customers
- Communicating business issues and opportunities on an ongoing basis to senior management; assisting in policy formulation and interpreting policy and programs for direct reports
- Implementing corrective counseling and coaching when necessary
- Serving as key interface with senior sales management, marketing and cross-functional partners across Amgen and a collaboration partner
- Setting strategic direction and vision at launch and beyond – effectively translating and aligning brand strategies with overall team direction and vision
- Conducting annual and on-going performance reviews and competency assessments
- Leading elements of the launch, including sales infrastructure and operations (sales data and platforms, incentive compensation build, etc.), sales force structure and alignment, customer targeting; contributing to the development of brand strategy and contracting strategy/plan, and building integrated customer engagement plans
- Engaging with Amgen market access field leads and teams to ensure connectivity and coordination in key accounts
- Providing professional staff development and succession planning
- Managing a team of DMs and KAMs to maximize performance and conduct business in line with
- Amgen’s compliance and Business Conduct Standards
Job Requirements:
- Home office and/or marketing experience
- Ability to work in a fast-based, nimble launch environment
- Knowledge of reimbursement, billing and coding, payor systems and US policy trends
- Co-promotion experience; respiratory biologics co-promotion experience a plus
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical / biotech product sales experience including 5+ years sales management experience
- Contracting/key account management experience; experience with biologics contracting and/or contracting with allergy/pulmonology/alternate site of care clinics a plus
- Experience in biologics; respiratory experience, especially respiratory biologics experience, a plus
Launch experience - Senior Sales Management experience
- Highly collaborative approach and mindset with a demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally and with co-promotion partners
- Solid understanding of the current respiratory biologics market and trends in asthma practices a plus
