Job Description:

People Management: This position within Store Systems and Operations supports Ace Hardware’s operational focus related to Workforce Management. Primary responsibilities include working with our retailers and vendor partners in building/training the best practices related to recruiting, labor management, people development, and payroll. Additional opportunities include involvement in all other aspects of people management such as customer and employee engagement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Complexity/Size: Contributes to smaller, more straightforward projects which are considered low risk; normally lead by someone else
  • Innovation/Creativity: Recommends refinements and improvements within existing best practices and solutions which are reviewed and approved by a senior member or supervisor
  • Decision Making Latitude: Determines the best way to execute assignments. Limited discretion to deviate from existing practices & procedures. Clears or escalates decisions with or to supervisor
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective interpersonal skills to engage with others and foster teamwork/collaboration. Able to interact and talk to retailers and field staff comfortably
  • Experience: Is known as a subject matter authority within limited areas of expertise; narrowly focused on some operational components of the store model
  • Sales/Marketing Role: Plays support role in marketing and selling solutions; primarily focused on development of best practices vs. marketing/deployment

Job Requirements:

  • Proven research and development skills – excelling in the ability to solve problems (i.e. “figure things out”)
  • Proficient writing /documentation skills
  • Working experience with Workforce Management systems (i.e. scheduling/time attendance, payroll, recruiting platforms, and/or HRIS systems)
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%
  • Polished interpersonal skills to engage with others
  • Effective presentation skills; capable of training retailer groups and/or field staff teams
  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail and follow up
  • Understanding of the operational aspects of running a retail store or functional expertise gained from working at Ace
  • Advanced PC skills including skilled knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Qualification & Experience:

  • B.S. / B.A. Degree in business administration or commensurate work experience
